1971 AND 1972 OBITUARIES

 

 LYMAN F. BATCHELDER, died July 6, 1971 at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth.  He was born October 21, 1895 the son of Frank E. and Imogene (Smith) Batchelder.  He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1915 and was president of his class.  He married Ella Fleming in June 1922.  She was from Scotland and she died in 1964.  They had one son, William Batchelder, who is now a judge in the New Hampshire court system.  The Batchelders lived on Wentworth Street.  He was called “Lyme” by his friends and family.

 

CHASE, FRED W., DIED February 6, 1971 at Speare Memorial Hospital.  He was buried at Riverside Cemetery.  Fred was born on December 12, 1882 in Wilmot Flat, the son of Francis Edwin Chase and Ada Clough.  He came to Plymouth in 1908 to play baseball for the D & M factory.  He married Effie Desmarches in 1910.  She died in 1952.  On November 10, 1955 he married Jessie Walker of Plymouth.  He has a son, Edwin F. Chase.

 

CONWAY, NATALIE (SULLIVAN), died January 25, 1971 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery.  She lived on Cooper Street in Plymouth.  Natalie was born September 26, 1913 to Joseph and Kate (Broughton) Sullivan.  She was employed at Plymouth State College and was the widow of Andrew J. Conway.  They had four sons and a daughter; Andrew, Dennis, Ronald, Russell, and Mrs. Patsy Neads.  Joseph Sullivan was a brother of Natalie Sullivan Conway.

 

EVERETT, FLORENCE M. (LA BRIQUE), died June 11, 1971 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery.  “Floss” was born in Rumney, November 9, 1889 to Joseph and Helena (Tondresu) La Brique.  She married Francis Everett on March 23, 1918.  He died on December 17, 1969.  A daughter, Mrs. Helen Connors survives her.

 

HASELTINE, EULAH MARSTON (HUCKINS) died at age 70 in 1971 in a car accident.  She was born in Plymouth and was married to Franklin L. Haseltine.

 

LOVETT, LEON, died December 23, 1971 in California.  He was born September 15, 1896, the son of Lyman and Nellie (Andrews) Lovett.  He married Ethel Dunn of Plymouth and they had a son, Frank Lovett.  Leon’s sisters are Mrs. Elsie Turmelle, and Mrs. Eva Bowles.  His brother is Ralph Lovett.

 

LESTER, NELLIE (PILLSBURY), died January 29, 1971 and was buried in Highland Cemetery in Rumney.  She was the widow of M. Earle Lester, who died in 1965.  She was born April 5, 1892 in Rumney, the daughter of George and Frances (George) Pillsbury.  She married Earle Lester in Littleton on January 109, 1915.

 

MILGATE, GRACE ESTELLE (HOMANS), died February 7, 1971.  She lived at 53 Langdon Street.  She was born in Massachusetts on May 2, 1875, a twin daughter of Arthur and Mary Melissa (Savage) Homans. She was one of six children in the family who came to Plymouth in 1888.  Her sister “Mame” was Mrs. Edward Currier.  She also has a brother, Warren Homans.  Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

 

ROBIE, WILLIAM THOMAS, died at age 63 on September 26, 1971 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.  He was born in Plymouth February 1, 1908, the son of Albert and Gertrude (Pickering) Robie.  His wife’s name was Florence and they had seven sons and one daughter.

 

TIMSON, JOHN B., age 76, died June 24, 1971 and was buried at Riverside Cemetery.  He was born in Plymouth July 11 1894 to John and Ella (Hudson) Timson.  He was a carpenter by trade.  His sons are Doodrow and Leland Timson and his daughters are Mrs. Dorothy Down and Mrs. Eva Howe.

 

WORTHEN, LEON W., died at age 90 on October 30, 1971.  He was buried at Trinity Churchyard.  He was born in Holderness on April 18, 1881, the son of Warren and Mary (Moulton) Worthen.  He married Bertha Holmes and had four sons, Dr. Eugene, John H., Roy E., and Warren P.  His sister is Mrs. Erma Thatcher.

 

CHASE, EDWIN C., age 73, died March 16, 1972.  He was born in Wentworth on December 17, 1898 to Walter E. and Mary Smith Chase.  He married Ruth Jaquith on May 9, 1954.

 

JORDAN, MARIE, died February 18, 1972 and was buried at Trinity.  She was born in Plymouth January 5, 1896 to Fred and Mary (Blouin) Jordan.  She was the sister of Mrs. Celia McCutcheon and Mrs. Bernadette Burke.

 

MICLON, EVA S., died in Florida on January 14, 1972.  She was buried in Blair Cemetery. Born in Campton on September 14, 1884, she was the daughter of Charles and Sarah Louis (Avery) Ferrin.  She was the widow of Bert Michlon.
