1968 OBITUARIES

BROWN, WILLIAM M., died November 22, 1968 at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth.  He was buried in Riverside Cemetery.  Born in Plymouth on July 23, 1903, he was the son of John Mellen and Bessie Mae (Walker) Brown.  He worked at the Draper Corporation at Beebe River for 21 years.  His wife was Abbie Houghton.  They had three sons, William, Robert, and George, all living in California, and two daughters, Mary Bullock and Abbie Frizzell.  William Brown had a sister, Mrs. Thelma Kelly.

 

WITHAM, WINONA (DOYING), died November 26, 1968.  She was born in Vermont in 1880, the youngest child of Richard and Mary Jane (Clark) Doying.  She married Rev David Withim on September 11, 1896 and they came to New Hampshire in 1905.  They founded the Gold Rule Farm for Boys in Franklin in 1915.  They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1946.  Winona lived in the “Wee House” in West Plymouth with her daughter, Minnie Witham.  Rev. Witham died May 22, 1952.

 

YORK, ETHEL (TIBBETS), died December 2, 1968 in Hanover.  She was born in Piermont on May 24, 1894, the daughter of John and Rose (Stone) Tibbets.  She came to Plymouth as a child and attended local schools.  For twenty years she taught school and operated a private school for 25 years at her home on River Street in Holderness.
