ALLEN, BURTON S., died September 9, 1967 at Vail Nursing
Home in Ashland. He was born April
26, 1868 in Greensboro, Vermont. He
worked in Plymouth at the D & M factory and also worked for J.P. Huckins.
He was known as “Uncle Burt” and also known as “Gramps.”
He was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church and the father of a son,
Bertram W. Allen and a daughter, Mrs. Blanche MacKay.
CAYES, REGINALD E., died November 21, 1967 in Plymouth.
He was a carpenter by trade and the father of two sons and six daughters.
He was born in Plymouth on July 14, 1905, the son of Edward and Margaret
(Dexter) Cayes.
ELLIOT, PERLEY, died August 16, 1967 in Haverhill.
He was born in Rumney on November 6, 1886 and worked for George C. Clark.
He also was the caretaker of the
Plymouth Common.
FLETCHER, FRED ELBRIDGE, died at Vail Nursing Home in
Ashland on September 10, 1967. He
was born in Plymouth on July 9, 1877, the son of John Gill Fletcher and Sarah E.
Morse. He was a member of the
Plymouth Methodist Church and was engaged in the buckskin glove business with
his father, J. Gill Fletcher. They
outfitted the dogsled drivers of Admiral Byrd’s 1931 expedition and supplied
the leather for harnesses, which enabled the dogs to pull the loads over ice and
snow in “Little America.” Fred
retired from the glove making business in 1940. In 1910 he married Lottie Downing, who died in 1951.
They had one son, John Fletcher.
FOSTER, ELIZA (GORE) died October 16, 1967.
She was born February 21, 1878, the daughter of George W. Gore and
Harried Hobart. She married Frank
H. Foster on September 1, 1901. He
died in 1943.
HATCH, GEORGE ALFRED, died October 23, 1967 in Plymouth.
He was born in Canada on March 8, 1870 and came to Plymouth in 1908,
where he was employed at the D & M factory.
He was the owner of Hatch Dairy in Plymouth and had a milk route among
the homes in town. He was a member
of the Plymouth Methodist Church. There
were two sons, Clarence and Cecil Hatch.
HOMANS, MARY (CURRIER), was born in Pelham 8/10/1877.
She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1894.
Her husband, Edward Grant Currier, was a railway clerk and he died in
1913. During their marriage they
lived in Lower Intervale. After his
death she lived at 53 Langdon Street, They
had two sons, Preston Homans Currier and Clinton Henry Currier. She died in 1967.
MC IVER, EDNA (DAVIS), died November 19, 1967 in
Vermont. She was born in Plymouth
on June 16, 1882, the daughter of Orrin Bliss and Emily (Harriman) Davis.
Her birth certificate reads “Carrie Edna Davis.”
Her father was killed in a railroad accident in 1892.
She was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church and graduated from the
Plymouth Normal School in 1904. In
1910 she married Dr. Leo H. McIver from Newport, Vermont.
They had a son and two daughters. Their
son is Dr. Frederick D. McIver of Plymouth.
SANBORN, MISS AVIS MARILYN, died in Plymouth on December
6, 1967. She was born in Plymouth
on March 30, 1939.
SMITH, HARRY W., died August 27, 1967 at Drew Nursing
Home in Meredith. He was born in
North Woodstock on February 14, 1883 and worked on the B & M railroad for
many years.
SPAULDING, ELSIE (BANNISTER), died July 3, 1967 at Mary
Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover. She
was born in Sydney, Australia on August 13, 1898 and was married to Philip
Spaulding. She was the organist at
the Plymouth Methodist Church

BROWN, MABEL (THISTLE), died at Laconia Hospital on July
7, 1968. She was born in St.
John’s, Newfoundland on March 17, 1884. She
lived in Plymouth from 1910 until 1959 and was a member of the Plymouth
Methodist Church.
BURTT, ROBERT P., son of Charles C. and Emelia (Nichlas)
Burtt, died September 20, 1968 at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover.
He was born September 13, 1921 and graduated high school in 1939.
He was a member of the Congregational Church.
He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later worked at Adams
Supermarket in Plymouth for 25 years as produce manager.
He was married to Charlotte Shurkus and was living in Lakeport prior to
his death. Two sons are Donald and
Leroy M. Bulger and his daughter is Mrs. David Boone. Two brothers, C. Edward Burtt and Kenneth Burtt.
CARPENTER, VERONA (DESELLE), died October 29, 1968.
She was born on February 2, 1911 in Plymouth, the daughter of Joseph and
Tina (Nutting) Deselle. She was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church.
She was married to Carlos Carpenter.
CURRIER, MARY (HOMANBS), died in 1968.
She was born in Pelham on August 10, 1877 and graduated from Plymouth
High School in 1894. At the time of her death she lived at 53 Langdon Street in
Plymouth. She was married to Edward

Mary celebrated her 90th birthday in 1967 and her 91st
in 1968.
DEARBORN, JANET C., died in Meredith on October 26,
1968. She was born in Glasgow,
Scotland on May 7, 1882 and came to the United States (Rhode Island) in 1885.
She was married to William Dearborn who died in 1951.
She lived at Highland Avenue and High Street in Plymouth and was a member
of the Plymouth Methodist Church. A
son, William Gill Dearborn, died in 1939 at age 24.
FOSTER, FRANK H., died in Plymouth on February 5, 1968.
He was born in Hanover on October 27, 1889, the son of John Henry and
Laura (Storrs) Foster. He came to
Plymouth in 1912 and worked at the Pemi Bank for 50 years.
He was also a trustee of the Plymouth Guaranty Savings Bank and retired
in 1961. He married Millicent Weeks
of Plymouth on September 15,m 1917 and lived at 49 Merrill Street.
HALEY, NEIL W., died in Florida on May 21, 1968.
He was born in Plymouth on May 11, 1901, the son of Jeremiah and Angeleta
(King) Haley. He was married to
Irene Murphy.
JESSEMAN, RAYMOND, died May 7, 1968 at a hospital in
Laconia. He was born in Plymouth on
July 30, 1896, the son of William and Jennie (Littlefield) Jesseman.
He was a patrolman on the B & M railroad for 39 years, retiring in
1961. He married Marguerite
Whitcher in 1918.
PHILBRICK, EDGAR H., DIED October 31, 1968 at a local
hospital. He was born in Plymouth
on June 3, 1907, the son of Leslie and Winifred (Logan) Philbrick.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1927 to 1930 and worked as a postal
employee from 1939 until 1961. He was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church.
He was married to Lillian Joyce and was the grandson of Adin H. Philbrick.
His father and his grandfather were also mail carriers.
SARGENT, DELLA S. (JONES), died in Plymouth on February
11, 1968. She was born in Plymouth
on March 14, 1879, the daughter of Alphonso and Maria (Currier) Jones.
She was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church.
Della was first married to Arthur E. Dearborn who died in 1931.
She later married Benjamin P. Sargent.
SMITH, WINNIE F. (CALDON), died at a hospital in
Woodsville on June 10, 1968. She
was born in Woodstock on October 5, 1881 and married Roscoe F. Smith on January
8, 1902 in Laconia. They were
married for 66 years. Her husband
ran a taxi service in Plymouth and he died the day after they celebrated their
66th wedding anniversary.
SMITH, ROSCOE F., died January 1, 1968 at a nursing home
in Center Harbor. He was born in
Plymouth July 1, 1880, the son of Andrew and Louise Smith.
He married Mary Knowles of Woodstock on January 8, 1902 and was a taxi
driver in town for 36 years. Roscoe
and Mary were living on Crescent Street when they celebrated their 63rd
wedding anniversary in 1965. Two
sons, Bernard and Andrew.
SNYDER, GRACE A. (GLINES), died January 19, 1968.
She was born in Lisbon on January 8, 1889 and was married to James Snyder
and the mother of two sons from a previous marriage.
