ADAMS, WALTER BLAIR, died of a heart attack at his home
in Durham on August 9, 1951. He was
born in Plymouth on December 13, 1887, son of George Herbert and Sarah Katherine
(Smith) Adams. He married
Marguerite Draper in 1912. Had a
son, Walter Blair Adams, Jr. and a daughter, Mrs. Robert Nordstrom.
He was buried in Trinity Churchyard.
BRAGG, CLARENCE W., died of a heart attack in March of
1952. “Murphy” was born in
Plymouth, the son of Oscar T. and Kate F. (Hutchins) Bragg. He was buried in Massachusetts.
BRAINERD, ALVIN PAUL, died August 27, 1952 in Plymouth.
He was born in Plymouth on April 10, 1898, the son of Alvin C. and Mary
(Gibbons) Brainerd.
BROWN, JOHN MELLON, died November 9, 1951 and is buried
in Riverside Cemetery. “Mel” was foreman of the section crew of the B &
M railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1845.
He was born in Gilmanton, son of John and Adelaide (Downs) Brown.
On November 27, 1902 he married Bessie Walker of Plymouth.
He is survived by a son, William Brown and a daughter, Mrs. Thelma
Kelley.
CAMPBELL, MABEL A. (NICHOLS), died at her home on Winter
Street on November 11, 1951. She
was born in Bridgewater on July 4, 1881, the daughter of Alvin and Alice
(Mitchell) Nichols. On October 31,
1910 she married George S. Campbell of Ashland.
She was buried in Riverside Cemetery.
CRAIG, CHARLES JOSEPH, age 86, died March 2, 1952.
He was born February 19, 1866, the son of Charles C. and Mary A.
(Merrill) Craig. He married Ella
Martin of Cambridge, Massachusetts and he was the Quincy Postmaster for 34
years. His son, Charles L. Craig
succeeded him. He is buried in
Riverside Cemetery.
CURRIER, ALICE A. (BOWLEN), died March 14, 1952 and is
buried in Riverside Cemetery. She
was born September 16, 1879 on Prince Edward Island, the daughter of Thomas and
Mary (McDonnel) Bowlen. She married
Ernest E. Currier, who died in 1946. They
had three sons, Charles, Preston, and Ernest, Jr.
DAY, FLORENCE B. (MORSE), was born 7/11/1879 in Campton.
She was the daughter of John and June (Moulton) Morse.
She was married to Albert Day and they had two sons, Maurice and Howard.
She also had a stepson, Vernon. Florence
died 7/16/1951.
DONAGHY, JOHN J., died November 12, 1951.
He was born January 14, 1875 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the only son of
John and Ma
rgaret Ann (Williamson) Donaghy.
On April 29, 1919 he married Julia Amadon of Maple Grove, P.Q., and they
came to Plymouth the following June. He
was employed at the D & M. There
were two daughters born to John and Julia; Mrs. Marie Colon and Mrs. Louise
Flynn. His only son, John, lost his
life in 1943 in North Africa with the U.S. Air Force in combat.
John Donaghy is buried in Riverside Cemetery.
DOWNING, ALICE A. (WELLS), died November 19, 1951.
She was born in Wentworth on June 22, 1878, the daughter of Henry and
Mary Wells. She married Eugene C.
Downing of Plymouth on December 1, 1903. He
died on November 19, 1938. Six
children were born to Alice and Gene; Raymond E., Chester W., Roger H., Richard
L., Mrs. Marion Cayes, and Mrs. Mildred De Cotis.
Alice was the sister of Amy Allen and Lettie Colburn and she is buried in
the Foster Cemetery.
DUSTIN, VINNIE SUSAN (CHASE), age 74, died February 2,
1952. She was the widow of James M.
Dustin, whom she married on June 15, 1898.
He died in 1933. She was
born in Colebrook, the daughter of Otis and Florette (Gould) Chase.
She was born on September 22, 1877.
She had two sons, Maurice and Wesley.
She is buried in Riverside Cemetery.
EASTMAN, FRANCES H. (SPAULDING), age 59, died February
25, 1952 at her home in West Plymouth. She
was born in Plymouth on January 11, 1899, the daughter of James and Helena (Tondreau)
Spaulding. She married Clifton K.
Eastman on March 16, 1918 and they had two children, Mrs. Emily Mackin and James
W. Eastman. Frances is buried in
Riverside Cemetery.
HALL, LILLIAN (PEBBLES), died June 25, 1952.
She was born in Plymouth April 12, 1868, the daughter of George and Abbie
(Coburn) Pebbles. She married Frank
H. Hall on March 28, 1900.
HUCKINS, HAROLD STEPHEN, died November 19, 1951 in Lower
Intervale. He is buried in Ashland.
He was born in New Hampton on November 11, 1903, the son f Rodney H. and
Luna (Bartlett) Huckins. His mother
died when he was an infant, and he was adopted by Mr.and Mrs. Almon S. Huckins. He was a patrolman for White Mountain Power Company in New
Hampton. He married Normal Lougee
on July 29, 1925 and they had three sons and two daughters.
The boys were Stanley, Robert, and Stephen and the girls were Hilda and
Jean. He had one sister, Mrs.
William Young.
MC CARTHY, FELIX, for forty years the Plymouth Police
Chief, died in May of 1952
MOULTON, HERBERT A., died December 12, 1951.
He was the son of Arthur C. and Laura A. (Paige) Moulton.
He was born in Thornton on September 23, 1878.
Herbert Moulton is buried at te Pine Grove Cemetery.
PAGE, NELLIE (MC DONALD), died July 25, 1952.
She was born April 27, 1856, the daughter of Converse and Ann (Marston)
McDonald, in a house on the Daniel Webster Highway.
In 1869 her family moved to Livermore Falls. She married Ira M. Page, a
Civil War veteran on November 17, 1887. He
died in 1894. Nellie was the oldest
member of the Plymouth Church, she was 96 years old.
Her grandfather, Oliver Lyford Marston was one of the original founders
in 1831 of the First Methodist Society of Campton,
Plymouth, and Holderness.
PRESCOTT, RICHARD O., the son of Norris Prescott, died
in Japan on April 20, 1952, where he was stationed with the U.S. Army.
It was reported he had a liver ailment and died before reaching the
hospital. He went overseas six days
after marrying Barbara Anderson Shores on August 15, 1951.
SIMPSON, LURA ANN (BROWN), age 68, died May 5, 1952.
She was born April 3, 1884 in Rumney, the daughter of George H. and
Martha (Nason) Brown.. She married Henry C. Simpson on August 2, 1902 and they had
10 children. Henry died in 1948 and
a son, Delbert, died in 1942. Lura
Ann is buried in Wentworth.
TOWNE, CLYTIE (SIMPSON), died November 9, 1951.
She was born November 11, 1900 in Wentworth, the daughter of Herman W.
and Martha (Heath) Wells. She married William L. Towne of Plymouth on October 1, 1918
and they lived in the Towne homestead in West Plymouth. The home was destroyed by fire a year before her death.
The Odd Fellows Lodge built them a new home, but Mr. Towne died before
the home was completed. The couple had a son, Ernest, and a daughter, Mrs. Emma Long.
Clytie is buried in Wentworth.
