BATCHELDER, MOSES A., died 12/19/1946.
He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on 12/10/1866 to George and Miriam
(Bennett) Batchelder. Moses came to Plymouth in 1883 and owned and operated a
clothing store in the “Old Brick” for many years.
He was the President of Plymouth Guaranty Savings Bank and was the Town
Clerk and Auditor for many years.
NICHOLS, ALICE BELLE (MITCHELL), died 10/13/1946.
She was born in Bridgewater on 11/26/1857, the daughter of Moses M.R. and
Mary Jane (Rogers) Mitchell. She
was educated in the Ashland and the Plymouth Schools as well as the Plymouth
Normal School. She lived in Ashland
for 65 years and in Plymouth for two years.
Her husband, who predeceased her, was Alvin F. Nichols and they had a son
and a daughter, Ernest M. Nichols and Mrs. George Campbell.
ATWOOD, VERNA L. (LEAVITT), died 3/21/1947 in
Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born
in Campton 3/31/1869, the daughter of Chase P. and Sarah (Keniston) Leavitt.
On 10/19/1889 she married Joseph L. Atwood who died in 1942.
She was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church.
HERBERT, HENRY W., died in Florida on 1/2/1947 at the
age of 104. He was born in Rumney
10/2/1842, the son of Samuel Herbert. On
9/22/1862 he married Susan Darling. She
died in 1927. They had three
children, Ellen, who died at age 17, Alice, later Mrs. Ernest MacFayden, and
Frank A. Herbert. Henry was the
Rumney station agent from 1872 to 1927.
HOBART, ARCHIE, died in February 1947 in Plymouth.
He was born in Plymouth on 3/13/1902, son of Perley and Nellie (Clark)
Hobart. His wife was named Hazel
and they had a son, Kenneth. There was also a stepson, William E. Annis, and a
stepdaughter, Mrs. Josephine Langill.
MARDEN, BLANCE (FARNSWORTH). the widow of Charles H.
Marden, died 3/25/1947. She was
born 1/4/1860 in Massachusetts, the daughter of Charles H. and Ann Cushing
(Webster) Farnsworth. On 10/23/1870
she married Charles H. Marden, a hotel manager.
They had five children; Harrison Greenleaf, who is deceased, Paul, who is
also deceased, Pauline, Phyllis, and Webster, who is deceased as well.
Blanche was the great, great granddaughter of Colonel David Webster and a
great granddaughter of Moor Russell. As
a young girl she lived at the corner of Webster and Russell Streets.
At the time of her death she was the oldest surviving member of the Young
Ladies Library Association. Blanche
was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church.
MC CUTCHEON, LILLIAN (KING), died 10/7/1947.
She was born in Thetford Mines, P.Q. on 4/17/1859, the daughter of Henry
and Lillian (Crawford) King. She married David J. McCutcheon in 1884.
He died in 1938. They came to Plymouth in 1894 and David was a farmer and a
state highway patrolman. Two sons,
Arthur and Clinton. Lillian was a
member of the Plymouth Methodist Church.

EASTMAN, CLARENCE PERKINS, died 12/10/1948.
He was born in Plymouth 3/14/1881 to Alonzo and Flora (Dalton) Eastman.
In 1945 he moved to Holderness and worked for many years and the D &
M factory. He was married to
Lillian Batchelder..
KIMBALL, WILLIAM A. “BERT”, died 3/11/1948.
He was born in Plymouth 7/14/1876, the son of William and Almira (Moses)
Kimball. He graduated from Plymouth
High School in 1892 and from Dartmouth College in 1898.
His wife’s name was Alice.
PHILBRICK, NAOMI (BELSER), died in the Plymouth Home in
the town of Holderness, 12/21/1948. She
was born in Canada on 3/19/1876 to James and Isabel (Cassidy) Belser.
She was a member of the Congregational Church.
She was the widow of Walter Philbrick and they lived together in Lower
Intervale before his death.
PHILBRICK, WALTER DUANE, died in 1948.
He was born in Plymouth 9/24/1876 to Adin Philbrick and Aura Wakefield.
His wife’s name was Naomi and he was, like his father and his
grandfather, a rural mail carrier.
TILTON, CHARLES LOUD, died in Plymouth 10/16/1948.
He was born in Sanbornton 8/26/1869, the son of Daniel L. and Laura
(Pike) Tilton. He was a member of
the Plymouth Methodist Church and was married to Leah S. Sawyer on 10/13/1897.
They had two children, a son, Almon who died in infancy and a daughter,
Laura Melissa Chase. Charles owned
the Tilton Concrete Company.
TUPPER, JOE HOOKER, died 11/2/1948 at his Lower
Intervale home. He was born in
Holderness 3/10/1874, a twin son of William H. and Mary Ellen (Lowd) Tupper. His
twin’s name was George Tupper. For 30 years he was employed by the B & M
railroad
