1887 MARRIAGES

 

WEBSTER, JOHN H. and ATWOOD, CLARA E., ages 40 and 42, respectively, were married (each for the second time) on January 5, 1887.  John was the son of William and Laura Webster.  Clara was the daughter of Stephen N. and Nancy T. (Barnard) Heath.  John’s occupation was listed as farmer and Clara listed her occupation as needle finisher.

 

            GALLAGHER, JOHN and CROCKETT, FANNIE, ages 40 and 29, respectively, were each married for the first time on January 6, 1887.  John listed his occupation as a peddlar, while Fannie was listed as a housekeeper.  Michael and Isabel Gallagher were the parents of the groom, while the bride’s parents were listed as William and Nancy O. Crockett.

 

            LYNCH, GEORGE W. and DONOVAN, MARY AGNES, ages 27 and 23, respectively, were married on February 22, 1887.  George was an expressman and also a hotel keeper.  Mary Agnes was listed as a housekeeper.  He was the son of John and Bridget Lynch.  Patrick and Julia Donovan were the parents of Mary Agnes.

 

            BROWN, JEREMIAH and BRAINARD, ANNIE FIELD, were married April 2, 1887.  Her age is listed as 17 and his as 24.  He was the son of Emery and E.G.E. (Morrill) Brown.  Annie was the daughter of James Spencer and Emma D. (Craig) Brainard.

 

            BURBANK, E. GEORGE and HOWLAND, EDITH M., were married May 7, 1887.  George was 18 years old and the son of Ezra and Alma E. (Holmes) Burbank.  Edith was 17 and the daughter of Andrew and Rosa (Plant) Howland.  It was the first marriage for each.

 

            BROWN, BYRON C. and COLBY, JENNIE S., married on May 15, 1887.  It was the first marriage for each.  Byron was the 22 year old son of Emery and E.G.C. (Morrill) Brown and Jennie was the 17 year old daughter of Alcott and Martha E. Colby.  Both Byron and Jennie listed their occupations as shoemakers.

 

            BISHOP, WILLIE D. and ECCLES, ADELAID VICTORIA, were married on June 11, 1887.  Willie was 27 and Addie was 19.  Willie was marrying for the first time.  He was the son of Hiram D. and Sophronia Bishop.  This was Addie’s second marriage.  She was the daughter of George and Ruth Eccles. Willie was listed as a blacksmith, while Addie was listed as a domestic..  Her first husband was Edward John Paige.

 

            DRAPER, EUGENE D. and ROBY, SARAH E., married on June 11, 1887.  Gene was 30 years old and Sarah was 23.  It was the first marriage for each.  Eugene was a carpenter and the son of Alvah M. and Rosella E. Draper.  Lowell R. and Nancy S. Roby were the parents of Sarah.

 

            CALDON, WILLIE D. and WALTON, EDITH D., were married July 27, 1887.  Willie was a station engineer and at age 20, this was his first marriage.  Edith was 16 and this was her first marriage.  H.D. and Rosina Caldon were Willie’s parents.  No parents are listed for Edith.

 

            MELVIN, GUY C. and FOGG, LOTTIE A.,  were married on August 6, 1887.  It was the first marriage for the 29 year old Guy and the third marriage for the 28 year old Lottie.  Guy was the son of Noah D. and Lucina (Swayne) Melvin.  He was a farmer and Lottie, the daughter of Joseph E. and Sarah A. Fellows, was a dressmaker.

 

            PRESCOTT, CHARLES W. and NELSON, MARCIA L., married on August 17, 1887.  It was the first marriage for each.  Both of them listed their occupations as shoemakers.  He was 21 years old and she was 19.  Harlan D. and Mary E. Prescott were the parents of Charles.  Cyrus Weeks and Mary A. Nelson were the parents of Marcia.

 

            GOULD, JAMES FRANK and PRESSY, LILLA SUSAN, were married on August 17, 1887.  James, a shoemaker, was 23 and Lilla, a milliner, was 18.  Frank M. and Lizzie A. Gould and Warren Moses and Lorissa (Eastman) Pressey were the parents of the young couple.

 

            ELLIOTT, HENRY and WILLOUGHBY, MARCIA, a farmer and a housekeeper, were married on September 10, 1887.  It was Henry’s first marriage and Marcia’s second.  Daniel and Betsey Elliott were the parents of Henry, while Moody and Lydia Blake were the parents of Marcia.

 

            LOUGEE, HENRY H. and HOPKINS, CELESTIA M., were both 42 years old when they married, each for the second time.  Their wedding date was September 24, 1887.  Henry was a painter and Celestia was a housekeeper.  Abner H. and Mary (Blake) Lougee were Henry’s parents.  Zephania and Lucina Kitridge were the parents of Celestia.

 

            SULLIVAN, JOHN CHASE and MURPHY, JOSEPHINE L., a railroad worker and a domestic, were married September 28, 1887; each for the first time.  Owen and Ann Sullivan were John’s parents.  There are no parents listed for Josephine.

 

            GREEN, FRED S. and MARSTON, TEXAS G., were married on October 5, 1887.  They were both 18 and it was the first marriage for each.  Calvin S. and Mary E. (Meserve) Sancom were the parents of Fred.  W.G. and C.M. Marston were the parents of Texas.

 

            FARNSWORTH, WILLIAM L. and SPAULDING, MARY F., were married October 21, 1887.  It was the first marriage for each.  William was 27 and Mary was 19 years old.  He listed his occupation as a carpenter.  He was the son of Hiram W. and Mira J. Farnsworth.  Mary was the daughter of Charles and Sara Eliza (Holt) Spaulding.

 

            HOWLAND, WILLIAM C. and PEBBLES, LILLIAN DANA, were married on November 5, 1887.  It was a first marriage for each of the nineteen year olds.  William was listed as a shoemaker and he was the son of Israel C. and Clarista Howland.  George Dalles and Abbie Pebbles were the parents of Lillian.

 

            GEORGE, ERI C. and ROLLINS, LILLIAN C., ages 27 and 21, respectively, were married November 29, 1887.  Eri was a tinsmith.  It was the first marriage for each of them.  Eri was the son of Reuben L. and Mehitable C. George and Lillian was the daughter of Samuel and Samantha Rollins.

 

            BRAINARD, ALBERT CRAIG and GIBBENS, MARY, both aged 20, married on December 9, 1887.  It was the first marriage for the railroad employee and the domestic, whose parents were Janes S. and Emma L. (Craig) Brainard and Michael and Nellie (Laferty) Gibbens.
